ZOO AVE

Buenos Tardes,

I will attempt to describe some of the pictures above, although there are a couple of animals that we have no idea what they are! The animals are at a rescue habitat in La Garita, about a 45 minute bus ride from our town of Santa Barbara. So here goes.

The top three pictures are of beautiful Macaws, the one on the upper right being a Hybrid Macaw. In the second row is a Spectacled Owl. The third row contains a Red Masked Parakeet and a Striped Owl. Fourth row are pictures of a Silver Pheasant, one of Deb’s favorites, and a view from our porch of the property we rent. Row five, obviously monkeys, not identified at the exhibit. Next, in row six is a Crested Crane and a Toucan, the Toucan being the unofficial symbol of Costa Rica! Row seven has another Macaw, and a pic of the park in downtown Santa Barbara. The next row I put in for my son in law, Pete, and our wonderful grand kids, Cassidy and Lucas. An Iguana and Spectacled Caiman. Why he is called spectacled I don’t know, he could see us just fine without glasses! Then, in the next row is a Tufted Ear Marmoset and a Geoffrey’s Tamarin. The last two animals are the Montezuma Oropendola and the Crested Cara Cara. The Oropendola will be seen around our place after the rainy season is over. I only named the animals. Trying to describe their beauty would not do any of them justice. The pictures should speak for themselves. Hope everyone enjoys them.

The last picture of a beautiful sunset is another scene from our front porch. We are looking at another beautiful sunset right now as we write. Did I mention we REALLY like it here?!?!

We are still taking buses, but will begin renting a car starting Nov 1st. This will give us many more opportunities to get out into the rainforest, animal refuges, and both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts. We heard today from friends of ours (Dianne and Sara) that they are coming for a visit just after the first of the new year. Then after they leave, Betty and Stuart come for a 2 week stay. We are still waiting on a few more friends to nail down the dates they will visit, but there is plenty of room on the calendar for visitors!!!! Any of our friends and relatives are welcome. You all know this, so come on down!! No snow, no wind chill, no scraping windshields. Just warm tropical weather, toucans, and blue crowned motmots!
