CHANGE OF PLANS

We have been looking forward to our third winter in the paradise known as Costa Rica. As most of us know, sometimes life brings things that force a change in whatever plans we may have. I am a firm believer in “We make plans for our life, and life at times gets in the way of those plans”. This has happened to our family.

A couple of weeks ago Deb’s mother was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer. This is devastating news to all of us. Soon she will have to decide what course of treatment, if any, she is willing to undergo. The fact that she is almost 87 years old, and there are other health issues she must deal with, will all have a bearing on her decision.

Because of this, Deb and I have cancelled all of our travel plans. There is no way we could even think of traveling anywhere with Deb’s mother being so sick. We have started the process of looking for an apartment or house to rent in Eau Claire since this is where her mother resides. We hope to move there around November 1st, taking on a 6 month lease. Deb and I knew that some year we may have to experience the cold and snow again, we just never thought it would be under circumstances like this. Costa Rica is still in our plans and our future, just not this winter.

There is a circle of life though. Our son and his lovely wife are expecting their first child any day. Being able to spend extra time with them will be very special. This is our third grandchild, we are so very excited, and can’t wait to hold and love him. (A BOY!). We will get to share the holidays with our children and grandchildren, which we have missed the past two years. This brings a smile to both of our faces.

I will use this platform to keep all of our friends and family updated on the events as they unfold. We hope that all of you are happy and healthy.

Pura Vida.

Deb & Tim.

  3. Huge hugs to you Deb keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. It is truly a blessing that you both will be spending time close to her.

Life is so funny to be having so many highs and lows at the same time. I would just like to point out that Julien is a very fine boy’s name. ☺
